I have had some great movement with DEER! The High Speed Reaction Card Game in the last few weeks, so I wanted to jump on here and share with yall everything that has been happening lately. I’m very excited by all of this positive movement.
Art & Graphic Design
Black Bear Creation is excited to announce that we are partnering with Tristam Rossin, of Bright Light Games, for the art on DEER!. I am in love with the work he has done on all three of the Tranquility games, as well as Big Sur. I reached out to him at the end of last year to see if he had any interest in working with me on my first game, then followed up now that I am ready to pull the trigger on art. One of the things I love about this partnership already is that he definitely understands what DEER! is about and his excitement to work on it. Links galore here, so go check out his previous works. Glad to start getting the team for this project built out.
Dice Tower West
March 10 – 15 2026
This year, I have officially secured a demo table stop for Black Bear Creation and DEER! at the show. I am excited to be able to go and show off my game with everyone at the show. This is going to be the first official convention for DEER!.
I have previously had it with me at different shows to break out and play. Now I’m running at an official demo table!
The demo hall will be open during the following hours:
- Thursday 10am to 10pm
- Friday 10am to 10pm
- Saturday 10am to 10pm
- Sunday 10am to 2pm
I have events schedule on the hour for DEER! in the Dice Tower West Cardboard Events page from 10am to 6pm (Thursday-Saturday), then 10am to 2pm (Sunday). After 7pm, I’ll be at the table based on the flow of traffic in the space.
If you’re going to be at Dice Tower West, grab a spot in one of my games! If you haven’t gotten a chance to play DEER! yet, come play! While the event length is 30 minutes, DEER! is fast and fun, taking only 1 minute to teach and 3-5 minutes to play.
Or just come and say Hi!
I’m also hoping to fill in additional spots in the schedule with some potentially games coming for Black Bear Creation. This next set will be after the crowdfunding for DEER!. I’ll include more on that later, but get excited, I have big plans for my company!

Additionally, if you’re a content creator come find me at DTW. I will have Mini-DEER!s that I will putting out into the world in a limited quantity. The goal of Mini-DEER! is to get it played with a bunch of people. Take it and post pictures to social media. Make some videos if you want, then pass it on to someone else to enjoy!
I will have more information on me at the show, but the goal with this is to build excitement. And I’m not asking for something with nothing in return. Anyone that tags me on social media with content of Mini-DEER! will get added in a drawing to Win a Deluxe Edition of DEER! when the crowdfunding launches. I’ll also be using the tags to build a list of content creators to consider when I start looking at doing paid content.

Alright, so I finally got around to getting the Black Bear Creation Discord server up and running, so click on the image above to come and join us!
There is a section to talk about our upcoming games, both announced and stuff I’m working on for the future. One of my next projects is to learn how to create modules on Tabletop Simulator so that I can start running online playtesting sections for future games like, Dingbats (dice programming), Rescue Dogs (worker placement strategy game), and Terrain Park (tableau builder).
If you enjoy playtesting games and want to be part of the process, come join the discord to stay up to date on when we start scheduling these playtests.
Additionally, I am hoping to build a designer space as well in my discord as one of my main goals with Black Bear Creation is to be a designer positive and designer focused publishing company, including both my own and other’s designs, as well as being an advocate and a voice for fair treatment for the creators of the amazing games we love.
So, come hang out and join in the fun. I hope to schedule some cool designer stuff, like Speedstorming (one on one rotating brainstorming sessions with a speed dating vibe) as well as playtest exchanges.
