Welcome to Black Bear Creation! My name is Jordan Thomas, also known at the GamezMama on Twitch and other social medias. I am a mom to both children and dogs, wife, creative, and business owner.
I’ve enjoyed playing board games pretty much my whole life, but got a closer look into the hobby game world back in 2005. My dad went full gung-ho on Barnes & Noble’s breaking into the party game scene. Then I found and learned games like Citadels and Rage. The final tipping point between enjoying play games and becoming a superfan, was my husband’s old copy of Munchkin he taught me. After that I started delving into the world of Board Game Geek, board game media, and grew into my omni-gamer personality, with a penchant for heavy and long games.
I’ve also been a creator my whole life, starting with writing, then developing proficiency in a range of arts and crafts. In full honestly, I’ve got that ADHD obsessive desire to constantly learn and grow, whether that is a new craft or becoming knowledgeable about a new topic.
In the background, that need to learn and know things have helped fuel my designer journey. I’ve been designing games for several years and in 2022, I made the shift from working in hospitality (which is practically the default living in a ski area), to working the the board game industry. Now, Black Bear Creation is going to start publishing games.
Our first game is going to be DEER!, which will go to crowdfunding in mid-late 2026, and then planning on about two crowdfunding events a year from 2027 on, with the goal of becoming sustainable enough to bypass the crowdfunding process.
